The Transformative Power of Jesus: Embracing Your Scars

Do you have scars in your life? Do you try to hide them, or do you try to forget about them? If you’re a Christian, your scars can be a testament to the transformative power of Jesus. Scars remind us of where we have been, and if you’re a Christian, it reminds us of what He has brought us through. Sometimes, we need that reminder. I believe this music video paints a vivid picture of our journey through thick and thin. The song’s writers are not just thankful for their scars, but they attribute their scars to leading them to Jesus. They stand in Jesus’s confidence because of His faithfulness to them. With the reminders of their scars, they remember how Jesus delivered them.

The one verse that says, Darkest water and deepest pain, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Jesus will be with you even in the deepest, darkest part of your life. It doesn’t matter where you are; He will be with you, guiding you. In Psalm 23:1-4, the Bible says, Jehovah is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside still waters. He restoreth my soul; He guideth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. When you walk with Jesus, His presence is a comfort and a constant source of strength, especially in the darkest times.

The verse that says I wouldn’t trade it for anything. What does that verse mean? If you are a Christian, even though the most profound pain or the darkest past, your scars will remind you where you have been and how Jesus brought you through what your scars represent. You may say, but you don’t know what my scars represent; Jesus could never love me. You are so wrong. Jesus loves you so much that He died for you. It doesn’t matter what you have done or where you have been. If you are a Christian and your scars remind you of things you would rather forget, ask Jesus to make something beautiful out of your scars. If you’re not saved, invite Jesus into your life, and He can transform your scars into something extraordinary. Click here to learn more about getting saved. You may live with scars for the rest of your life, but they will remind you where you came from.

The last part of the song says, I’m thankful for the scars Cause without them, I wouldn’t know your heart. Why would we be thankful for our scars? Because without our scars, it would be easy to forget how we were living. Again, if Jesus saved you, celebrate your scars because Jesus washed the stain of those scars away. But what if you’re not saved? Do you think you are not worthy of Jesus’ love or even His time? Let me ask you this: who woke you up this morning, protected you while you slept, and gave you the air you breathe? The answer is Jesus. The last part of the verse means you might not have met Jesus without your life’s scars. I remember hearing a message, and the pastor said, “it takes intervention on Jesus’ part for you to want to know Him at all.” What scars are in your life that Jesus may use to get your attention? Remember, Jesus loves you unconditionally, regardless of your past or scars. His love is not just accepting, but all-encompassing.
